Napra pontosan 8 éve, 2010. január 25-én mutatta be W01-es kódjelű versenyautóját a Mercedes csapata.

A német istálló a korábbi év bajnokcsapata, a Brawn GP felvásárlása után tért vissza gyári csapatként a Forma-1-be, első 3 évében pedig a Nico Rosberg – Michael Schumacher kettőssel vágott neki a küzdelmeknek.

A W01-es modellel a Mercedes a konstruktőri 4. helyen zárt 2010-ben.
